National Smiles Month

Dear Friends,

Did you know that June is National Smiles Month? At Cura Smiles, we are working hard to restore as many smiles this month as possible! We want to share a few stories with you so you can celebrate with us and see the impact that's happening, in large part due to your generosity! 

Marisol has just started coming to the clinic and has a few more appointments ahead of her. Marisol is a single mom. The needs of her two children make it impossible for her to work. Instead, the government pays her to be a caretaker for her children, but have taken away Medical because they say she "makes too much." Unable to pay for dental care, Marisol reached the point where she needed an extraction because of the pain. We're working to restore Marisol's smile in the coming weeks. 

Marisol has faced some significant challenges. Her children's father was murdered in 2018, and her own father was murdered six months before that. Having been inspired by the Harouni family's story and our Hearts over Hate event on March 1, Marisol reached out to the clinic to ask for an appointment. We are so glad she did! 

This is Mene. Mene was referred to the clinic by an amazing Cura Smiles supporter. Mene is 47 years old and had never been to the dentist before coming to Cura Smiles. We were able to restore his smile- he was deeply moved and thankful. What a sweet-hearted man he is!
